Indians: Where do we stand ?
From the early days, when I was in school, I used to form an analogy between our Indian mythological stories and my science book, carrying in my mind what western countries are inventing/discovering today, we had invented/discovered thousands of years back. But where all that have gone? We do not see anything from that today. Everything has remained in the stories. It had given me a sense of disappointment when I did not find any Indian name (except in Raman’s Effect) in my science text books. We give excuses that we did not have resources. But tell me did Marie curie and Marconi had any resources that we could not have here at that time. We people had really missed the opportunities. We should stop boasting about our glorious past and should work for the future.
During my Engineering course when I was preparing for a seminar on Quantum Computers I came across the fact that even the countries like Israel are very much ahead of us in this field and we are doing nothing. I get frightened to think of the day when countries like USA will be having their Quantum Computers and we will be their slaves at that time. (Although I don't think that we are absolutely free today). Not just Quantum computers, we are legging behind in a lot of areas. We are using telephone what they have given us to use, we are using computers what they have given, we are using Internet what they have created and the list goes on …….
We will have to invent our own ways. We cannot depend on our enemies (at least they are not our friends). NASA and DOD of America will give us technologies only when it will be unfit for their own use. They only dump technologies to us.
I want to change this scenario. We Indians will have to work hard and fast as we are more than 100 years behind them. What I want from my life is to do whatever I can do at my best to change it and motivate other people of my country so that the chain goes on because a single person may not fill a gap of 100 years in a 30-40 years life span.
